Archipelagog

Something collapse
Shatter borders of sweet little dreamland
Cuts to the bone like a raster of barnacles
Navigating these slivers of broken land
Territorial hex
Hangs over us again and again
This notorious outcrop is looming us
Like a siren into a false sense of sanctuary
Prowling the wreckage
Predatorial talons
Swoop from the blind spots
Collapse Archipelagog
Leading us into
A false sense of sanctuary
Something fragmenting
Collapse Archipelagog

The Wretch
10:43
|
|

Decay into dusk
Arise another black sun
Illuminate the wretch
And bring on the hunt
Watch him as he stumbles
Running out of time
Into primordial ooze
We’re sinking down
Punishing the wretch
Driven by a blood lust
Into perennial decline

Xeric Ascension

Chewing a gristle of hope
on this merciless landscape,
prodigal pawn in a state
of delusion, high and blind
on the trappings of everything.
Scraping an arc of faith
in dust and aridity,
derelict scrub
in the darkest recesses
with rodents and tangleweed,
down on his knees.
Punitive rambling mantra,
a feverish rampage of abstinence
breaking his soul in the elements,
high and blind on the food of denial.
Wrapped in a damp and threadbare
bundle of gauze, ceremonial blades,
farcical parchments and trinkets of icons,
he’s screaming for answers
down on his knees.

Cicada

Fluttering blitz
There’s a high-pitched warning
Up in the bough of the Jacaranda
Blackout under a Bwacha night sky
Twists of smoke carving up a symphony
Incarcerated by the hand of man
Trapped in a prison of salt and polythene
Stoking the heat beneath a buckled black pot
Out in the curfew among the cicadas.
